Narrative
KENTWOOD, LA – A teen cyclist died, and another cyclist sustained injuries last week in a collision involving an SUV along the highway in north Tangipahoa Parish.
The accident occurred Thursday on the southbound side of LA-1061 near Crawford Road. This is in the southeastern outskirts of Kentwood, about 77 miles northeast of Baton Rouge.
Police say that for unknown reasons, a southbound SUV rear-ended the two bicycles.
A 13-year-old cyclist died after transport to an area hospital. Medics transported the other cyclist to the hospital with minor injuries.
The driver involved in the crash did not sustain injuries.
