ST. CHARLES PARISH, LA – A 52-year-old Sorrento man died on Wednesday when his vehicle crashed along a highway in St. Charles Parish, reports KTVE 10. Police say the incident happened in the afternoon on US-61 near Evangeline Road. The preliminary investigation suggests that a northbound 2019 Hyundai Elantra crossed into the southbound lanes, exited the roadway, and collided with a utility pole. The driver, identified as James Kennedy, died at the scene of the accident. Authorities say he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The incident remains under investigation. ST. CHARLES PARISH, LA – One person died early Friday morning when his vehicle collided with a box truck on the Bonnet Carre Spillway Bridge, WDSU News 6 reports.  Police say the incident happened around 2:30 a.m. near milepost 216.5. The initial investigation showed that a speeding 2012 Toyota Prius collided with the rear of a 2019 International box truck. The driver of the Toyota died at the scene of the crash after his vehicle ignited. The driver of the box truck did not sustain injuries in the crash.
