Narrative
NEW IBERIA, LA – A 21-year-old Franklin man died Monday morning in a two-vehicle collision in north-central Iberia Parish.
The accident occurred just after 6 a.m. at the intersection of LA-329, or Avery Island Road, and C Romero Road on the southwest side of New Iberia, which is about 21 miles southeast of Lafayette.
Police say that a southbound 1994 Freightliner struck an eastbound 2003 Chevrolet 1500 when the driver of the pickup truck failed to heed a stop sign at the intersection.
The unrestrained driver of the Chevy, identified as Anthony Rogers, succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash.
The truck driver did not sustain injuries in the accident.
