Narrative
HOMER, LA – A wrong-way crash along the highway near Lake Claiborne killed one child and injured another Saturday in Homer.
The accident happened at 3:45 p.m. on LA-146 near Public Boat Ramp Road. This is southeast of Homer Municipal Airport.
Police say that a westbound 2015 Toyota SUV entered the eastbound side of the highway and crashed head-on into an eastbound 2014 Dodge Ram.
A 5-year-old from the SUV died in the crash, while a 10-year-old from the same vehicle went to the hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the SUV also went to the hospital with serious injuries, while the driver of the pickup sustained minor injuries.
Authorities say driver of the SUV may have been intoxicated at the time of the collision. Additionally, neither of the children in the SUV were restrained properly.
