Narrative
PRAIRIEVILLE, LA –A 42-year-old man sustained fatal injuries Tuesday in an auto-pedestrian crash in East Baton Rouge Parish.
Just before 5 a.m., emergency teams responded to an incident along US-61 near Manchac Park Road in the city of Prairieville, which is about 19 miles southeast of Baton Rouge.
Police say that 48-year-old Travis Weams was walking away from his disabled Toyota Camry on the northbound side of US-61 when both a garbage truck and a Mustang hit him.
Weams died from his injuries at the scene of the crash.
Neither of the other drivers were hurt in the accident.
Officials closed US-61 in the area of the crash for around four hours while emergency teams worked at the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
