Narrative
BAKER, LA – A 41-year-old man died Wednesday in a wrong-way crash along the highway on the northwest side of East Baton Rouge Parish.
The accident happened just after 9 a.m. on LA-964 just north of Groom Road, which is on the western outskirts of Baker.
Police say that the driver of a southbound 2012 Nissan Altima entered the northbound lanes of LA-964 and collided head-on with a northbound 2023 Nissan Armada.
The driver of the Altima died after transport to a local hospital. Authorities identified him as Derek Guessfeld.
Medics transported the driver of the Armada to the hospital with moderate injuries.
