FedEx truck hits car on Hwy 12 near Ragley, kills 1

DEQUINCY, LA – One man died when a FedEx truck collided with a pickup truck on Highway 12 in Beauregard Parish on Wednesday, KPLC reports.

The accident happened near the intersection with Pierce Road around 5 p.m.

Police say that a westbound 2021 Chevrolet Express FedEx truck sideswiped an eastbound 2006 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck when the driver of the FedEx truck tried to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone.

The passenger of the pickup truck died at the scene of the crash. Authorities have identified him as 30-year-old David J. Riley of DeRidder. Riley was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.

The drivers of the FedEx truck and the pickup were taken to area hospitals with minor injuries.

Police are still investigating the circumstances of the crash.
