Head-on DUI crash kills one in Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE, LA – A 22-year-old woman died, and another person went to jail following a two-car collision in East Baton Rouge Parish on Sunday, WAFB 9 reports.

Police say the crash happened just after 3 a.m. on Louisiana Highway 30 near Louisiana Highway 327 when the victim, identified as Summer Mckinnon, veered from her northbound lane into oncoming traffic. She then collided head-on with another vehicle.

Mckinnon died after transport to a local hospital.

The driver of the other vehicle, identified as 35-year-old Chenna Nalabolu, did not sustain injuries in the crash. Nalabolu tested over the legal limit for alcohol on a breath test and was arrested on a charge of vehicular homicide.

Authorities are unsure why Mckinnon veered from her lane of traffic. The accident remains under investigation.
