Narrative
DENHAM SPRINGS, LA – A 13-year-old cyclist sustained fatal injuries Sunday in a crash along the highway near Denham Springs.
The accident happened shortly before 1:30 a.m. on LA-1026. Officials haven’t yet provided a cross street for the wreck.
Police say that for unknown reasons, a westbound vehicle rear-ended the westbound cyclist along the highway.
The boy, identified as Matthew Temple, died after transport to an area hospital.
The driver of the vehicle involved in the accident stopped to render aid and speak with authorities. It’s not yet clear if they will face charges.
